He even considered tungsten, but the metal could not be worked with the tools available at the time.
GE would go on to produce one of the largest lines of electrical industrial and consumer goods in the world, including incandescent light bulbs, electric locomotives, X-ray machines, and electric stoves. The company began mass-producing electric home appliances in the 1920s, changing the look and function of American homes.
